At Seabreeze Orthodontics, we take great pride in assisting people to achieve the smiles of their dreams. Dr. Juan is thrilled daily to help people feel better about themselves. We meet such wonderful people and are presented with compelling cases every day.
Just like everything else, orthodontic care advances and changes as time passes. We embrace those changes! Dr. Juan and his team work hard to stay up-to-date to provide the best possible patient care using the best treatments. There are so many sensational improvements to orthodontic care we’d love to talk to you about, but we know you are very busy! So, we chose just three that we think you would be most interested in.
Let’s dive right in!
1.) Ceramic Braces
For decades, traditional metal braces have been a reliable, durable appliance for aligning teeth and jaw. Still, recently there has been a growth in patients wanting a more aesthetically pleasing option.
Ceramic, or clear braces are very similar to traditional metal braces. They use brackets, wires, ligatures (bands that hold the wire to the brackets), and sometimes elastics to apply pressure to the teeth and jaw. The difference is their brackets and ligatures. Instead of stainless steel, clear braces use polycrystalline alumina. While not actually clear, the tooth-colored brackets and ligatures create the illusion. Some patients like to use colorful ligatures against the natural brackets to produce a neon effect!
Despite not being as strong as metal braces, they are not as fragile as their name suggests. Polycrystalline alumina is still highly durable to suit most patient needs. The small, rounded design of the ceramic brackets is more comfortable than metal braces for some patients.
Ceramic braces are perfect for patients who need complex adjustments that clear aligners cannot do but do not want the appearance of metal braces.
2.) Invisalign
What if ceramic braces don’t provide a natural enough look? If you need mild orthodontic work and prefer if most people do not even realize you are in treatment, you might want to consider clear aligners by Invisalign.
Clear aligners are removable, translucent plastic trays that align the teeth by applying pressure. The trays can even aid in jaw alignment with attachments for elastics!
Invisalign trays are custom-made for each unique patient’s mouth and goals using 3D technology! With X-rays and images, our experienced team at Seabreeze Orthodontics can create a 3D model of your mouth! Dr. Juan can also spot potential complications before treatment begins and show you a digital representation of your predicted final look using the 3D model! This precise planning, combined with their SmartTrack technology that applies consistent yet comfortable pressure, creates a pleasant patient experience and could reduce overall treatment to as little as six months!
The brand has also released Invisalign for Teens and Invisalign for Kids. These trays have the option for eruption tabs, which allow space for adult teeth to erupt and grow while in treatment, perfect for teenagers who don’t want to wait or kids in Two-Phase Treatment.
3.) AcceleDent
Chewies have been around for years. They are small, chewable products that assist in alleviating the discomfort of braces and clear aligners when tightened or wearing a new tray. They also help to remove any gaps between teeth and aligners, speeding up treatment.
AcceleDent Aura is a new way to achieve the same effect. Your teeth are connected to the jaw bone with their roots and gum tissue. When we apply pressure to your teeth, it loosens their hold on the jaw bone. Your bone then “remodels” by removing bone to make space for the tooth in its new spot and creating new bone to secure it there. AcceleDent Aura stimulates this process for a faster, more enjoyable process using micro-pulses for patients of all ages.
While it might sound scary to use vibrations for bone remodeling, AcceleDent Aura is more comfortable than standard chewies. In fact, the micro-pulses are 200x more gentle than ordinary chewing. The product’s design allows it to work on both rows of teeth simultaneously, and it only takes twenty minutes a day! The device is also hands-free and portable, so no matter when you use it, it will not disrupt your day.
SEA if any of these options are right for you at Seabreeze Orthodontics!
At Seabreeze Orthodontics, we know the appearance and time commitment of orthodontic care can be intimidating. It even prevents some patients from starting treatment at all! While we believe there should not be any shame before, during, or after orthodontic care, we understand that no one wants to have long, uncomfortable treatment. That’s why we use modern technology and procedures to ensure every patient has as pleasant an experience as possible.
